We install heat cable in gutters and downspouts to prevent ice dams during Northwest cold snaps.
When Arctic air settles over the region and freezes runoff, ice builds up in gutters and downspouts and forces meltwater back under the shingles. Heat cable keeps a channel open so water can drain instead of damming at the roof edge. We route the cable through the vulnerable troughs, downspouts, and along the eave where ice tends to form. This is targeted protection for the cold snaps that periodically hit even our mild coastal climate.

1) Identify the eaves, troughs, and downspouts at risk; 2) Lay out the heat cable pattern for those areas; 3) Secure the cable and connect to a controlled circuit; 4) Test operation and confirm safe, even heating
