We rebuild cracked and crumbling chimney crowns so water stops seeping into the masonry from the top down.
The crown is the sloped concrete slab that caps the brick and directs water away from the flue, and years of Northwest rain and freeze-thaw movement leave it cracked and spalling. When those cracks open up, water works into the chimney structure and accelerates the deterioration of the brick and mortar below. Our masons remove the failed material, form a new crown with the proper overhang and drip edge, and slope it to shed water clear of the walls. A sound crown is the first line of defense that protects everything beneath it.

1) Assess the crown for cracks, spalling, and inadequate overhang; 2) Remove deteriorated concrete and prep the surface; 3) Form and pour a new crown with correct slope and drip edge; 4) Cure, seal, and inspect for a continuous water-shedding surface
Size and thickness of the crown; severity of existing cracking or spalling; whether partial patching or a full rebuild is required; access and staging for the work at height; any masonry repairs needed on the stack below
Plan crown repairs for the drier summer months so the new concrete cures fully before autumn rains test it.
