Some attics, especially those with long low-slope runs or minimal ridge length, simply don't get enough natural draw to stay dry in our humid climate. A powered attic fan mechanically pulls that damp, hot air out and, with a humidistat, kicks on precisely when attic moisture climbs during our wet months. We size the fan to the attic volume and, just as importantly, verify there is enough soffit intake so the fan doesn't pull conditioned air from the house instead. Proper wiring, a quality motor, and correct controls make the difference between a fan that helps and one that fights your HVAC.
